AroAce Spectrum Community
AROACE SPECTRUM COMMUNITY (AASC) is a group for individuals ages 18 and up who fall within the asexual and aromantic spectrum, along with those who are questioning.
Meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at OutFront Kalamazoo.

Mindful Moments: Meditation for Everyone
Mindful Moments is a welcoming, down-to-earth mindfulness meditation group designed for people of all experience levels, ages 18 and up. We offer a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore mindfulness in a way that feels natural and accessible.
We typically begin with a short guided mediation, followed by a few moments of silent sitting. Afterward, there is time gentle reflection, optional group sharing, and light discussion about everyday mindfulness tools you can use in your daily life.
Mindful Moments takes place on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at OutFront Kalamazoo. Please bring your own blanket, towel, cushion, yoga mat, or other items to sit comfortably on the floor. Some pillows will be available.

Monthly Euchre Tournament
Our MONTHLY EUCHRE TOURNAMENT is held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at The Crafted Copper. This is an opportunity for anyone within the LGBTQIA+ community ages 18 and up to socialize, connect, and have fun while sharing in a few rounds of this popular Midwestern card game.

Youth TTRPG (Virtual)
YOUTH TTRPG is a tabletop role-playing game group for ages 12 through 18. They play a variety of TTRPGs (tabletop role-playing games) in one to two session games. Dice and any other tools are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own!

GLOW FLOW for OutFront w/ Kalamazoo Backyard Yogis
Step into a night of neon and movement under black lights while benefitting OutFront’s Gender Affirming Care Fund!
Come dressed in bright or UV-reactive colors with provided glow sticks and body paint during this upbeat guided yoga class with non-flashing neon lights. Halloween costumes welcome.
Music will be louder than usual and full of upbeat lyrics, with plenty of space to dance, laugh, and move in community in this large class capped at 25 people.

LiFT: Linking Families & Teens
LiFT is a 6-hour community retreat designed to connect young people (ages 13-24) and the supportive adults in their lives by initiating meaningful discussion. The program encourages open dialogue on topics that are central to young people's lives by creating an opportunity for effective communication and navigating shared values. This program is not here to teach you values, but rather ensure you have the tools to be clear on what your values are and how you can maintain them in your home while fostering open and honest dialogue!
LiFT aims to establish and sustain healthy relationships through ongoing conversations between youth and their support adults. Attendees receive a gift card at end of session!

About the Artist
Leray Photography, short for Leasia Rayona Photography founded by passionate artist and photographer Leasia, is dedicated to celebrating the beauty of human connection, emotion, and storytelling through the lens. A graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, Leasia combines her technical expertise with a keen eye for capturing moments that resonate deeply. Rooted in the belief that photography is a powerful medium for expression and healing, Leray Photography offers a unique perspective influenced by Leasia’s artistic journey and commitment to community engagement. Her work often explores themes of vulnerability, self-acceptance, and personal transformation, aiming to create imagery that speaks to the heart. Beyond her photography business, Leasia is inspired by her vision to curate meaningful art experiences. She’s an advocate for using creativity as a tool to overcome trauma and foster emotional growth, “a mission she championed not only in her art but in her efforts to create and support authentic environments with the goal of “Creative Freedom.” Whether working with clients to document their special moments or crafting visual stories for broader audiences, Leray Photography captures more than just images—she preserves memories, sparks connection, and shares stories that matter.

Poetry Reading w/ Margaret DeRitter
Join us for a reading from our October Artist of the Month, Margaret DeRitter! Margaret (she/her) will share excerpts from her poetry collection, "Singing Back to the Sirens," and from the anthology "Love Is for All of Us: Poems of Tenderness and Belonging from the LGBTQ+ Community and Friends." Get a chance to speak with the poet and purchase book copies after the reading.
This event will take place on October 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at OutFront Kalamazoo. Light refreshments will be provided.
About the Artist
Margaret DeRitter (she/her) is the author of the full-length poetry collection "Singing Back to the Sirens," which has been described by Pulitzer-winning poet Diane Seuss as a collection of "achingly beautiful and gutsy poems" that "represent an autobiography of love." DeRitter was also a winner of the 2018 Celery City Chapbook Contest for "Fly Me to Heaven by Way of New Jersey." Her work has been published in numerous literary journals and appears in the 2025 anthologies Love is for All of Us: Poems of Tenderness and Belonging from the LGBTQ+ Community and Friends, We've Got Some Things to Say: Reshaping Narratives Around Sexual Violence, and Living Our Blessings: Aging, Mortality and Gratitude. Margaret worked full time as a journalist for 30 years, including 22 years at the Kalamazoo Gazette, and has taught journalism at Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University. She lives in Kalamazoo and serves as copy editor and poetry editor of Encore magazine.

We are pleased to welcome the League of Women Voters to our next First Thursday! On October 2nd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., join us at Shakespeare's Pub for our usual appetizers and socializing as well as an opportunity to ask the League of Women Voters all your questions about voting, voter suppression, and more. Additionally, we'll have materials available for you to get your voter registration up-to-date in time for November's General Election!

FIRST THURSDAY is a monthly social program working to connect LGBTQIA+ folks ages 18 and up and support local LGBTQIA+-owned and affirming businesses. Join us from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Locations vary and will be posted in advance.

Our MENTAL HEALTH NAVIGATOR is ready to help you navigate the healthcare system and overcome barriers to accessing mental health services. Our Mental Health Navigator is prepared to:
Provide a listening ear
Identify needs
Brainstorm short- and long-term goals
Offer connections to services and resources
These services are offered on a walk-in basis at OutFront Kalamazoo every Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
