KALAMAZOO, MI – OutFront Kalamazoo is proud to officially announce the promotion of Michael Cleggs-Arnott (he/him) as the organization’s first Deputy Director. In this role, Cleggs-Arnott provides supervisory support to the programs and services teams, supports the Executive Director with fundraising efforts, and works to create an inclusive and representative culture within the organization.
“I have deeply appreciated Michael’s expertise and steady partnership throughout my first year as Executive Director,” said Christopher Terkos (he/him), who began his tenure at OutFront last January. “As OutFront continues to embrace a shared leadership model, this step reflects the collaborative approach that has already been guiding our work. Michael’s extensive institutional knowledge and his longstanding commitment to this organization have been invaluable, and this promotion recognized the essential leadership he brings to our team.”
Cleggs-Arnott was first hired at OutFront as Director of Programs in 2015 and served several years prior to that as a volunteer. As such, Cleggs-Arnott brings over a decade of experience serving the organization through multiple locations, leadership changes, and difficult periods including the 2020 shutdowns. In his time at OutFront, Cleggs-Arnott has seen the organization grow from just two full-time staff members managing four regular programs to the current roster of ten full-time staff members and over thirty unique programs and services. As he takes this next step as Deputy Director, Cleggs-Arnott hopes to continue advocating for greater representation within the organization for those who have been historically underrepresented in OutFront’s programs and services, especially Black and Brown, Indigenous, and senior community members.
“I feel an immense amount of pressure, not only because I’m a Black man in this role, but because there is so much need,” said Cleggs-Arnott. “Yet even with our small staff, we have some of the most supportive services offered in our community. That keeps me proud.”
OutFront Kalamazoo is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to create a just, inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment in Kalamazoo County for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions.
