OutFront Kalamazoo Announces Dates for Kalamazoo PRIDE 2022

15TH Annual PRIDE to be held in person after two years of virtual PRIDE

KALAMAZOO, MI March 1, 2022 – OutFront Kalamazoo, one of Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ community centers, is excited to announce the return of in-person KALAMAZOO PRIDE on June 3-4, 2022, at the Arcadia Creek Festival site.

“This year’s PRIDE is a critical one. With the backlash of LGBTQ+ laws being proposed and passed, this year’s PRIDE is important for the solidarity, fight for human rights, and visibility of the Queer community,” said Amy Hunter, Executive Director of OutFront Kalamazoo.

The first PRIDE was 52 years ago to protest the Stonewall Riots in Greenwich Village in the month of June. Since the start of the modern LGBTQ+ liberation movement in the 1970s, independent Pride events have sprung up worldwide.

“For two years, we hosted a virtual PRIDE to keep our community safe. We are beyond excited for this year’s in-person PRIDE celebration and, if necessary, we will have Covid precautions in place,” continued Hunter.

Tickets will be available online in late April on our website. Sponsors can sign up on our website at outfrontkzoo.org/sponsor2022 and vendors/artisans/nonprofits can secure a spot at outfrontkzoo.org/vendor2022.
