It is Election Day!
Good morning. We made it to Election Day.
If you haven’t done so already, please vote! Our democracy depends on you. And once your ballot is cast, I’m asking two things:
• Please be patient. This is such an unusual year. Michigan's Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is predicting that it may take until Friday to have all votes counted due to the large number of mail-in ballots. Some states make take even longer. If we don't have results on election night, that's because election officials are doing everything they can to make sure that every vote counts.
• Plan post-election self-care. For many, the combination of a contentious election, the ongoing pandemic and the possibility of delayed results has led to unprecedented levels of anxiety. Regardless of how the election goes, we will need to stay strong and united in our fight against oppression and injustice. So be kind to yourself. Don’t forget about your need for rest and energy conservation. Effective political engagement goes hand-in-hand with emotional self-care.
The LGBTQ+ community is resilient. OutFront Kalamazoo stands with you and we will get through this. Together.
In solidarity and #AlwaysOutFront,
