A New Look
OUTFRONT KALAMAZOO INTRODUCES
NEW LOGO, REDESIGNED WEBSITE
New logo and website signal renewed attention to
efforts to advance LGBTQ+ equity and inclusion.
KALAMAZOO, MI July 13, 2020 – OutFront Kalamazoo, one of Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ community centers, today announced a rebrand to its visual identity that reflects its ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusivity and collaborative leadership. The new logo represents a merger of the visual marks of the organization and its well-known annual event, Kalamazoo Pride. Coinciding with the unveiling of the new brand identity, OutFront launched an updated website (www.outfrontkzoo.org) focused on informing and engaging the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied community in southwest Michigan.
The rebranding is not just visual. In addition to the new graphic identity and website, OutFront Kalamazoo has upgraded internal systems to improve communications and expand community engagement in support of the organization’s mission.
“OutFront Kalamazoo has been around for over 30 years and the refreshed logo is another step in the organization’s ongoing evolution. The new logo conveys that we are a diverse, inclusive and connected group of tireless advocates, loyal allies, enthusiastic donors, knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers” said OutFront Kalamazoo Executive Director, Amy Hunter. “It is our hope that this rebranding invites renewed reflection on what it means to be ‘out front’ – as an organization, as a community and as individuals. Together, we must all play a part in advancing social justice and achieving equity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.”
The predominant rainbow swirl, which had become a familiar symbol to the thousands of annual attendees at Kalamazoo Pride, will now be reflected throughout the organization’s programs, peer groups, social efforts and events. The new logo and website are part of a transformative journey that began in 2017 when the organization changed its name from Kalamazoo Gay & Lesbian Resource Center to OutFront Kalamazoo. “We’ve listened to feedback from the community and are excited to reorganize all aspects of OutFront’s activities using a united visual identity” said Hunter. “This rebrand simply invites everyone to take another look at an organization that has a proud history and an exciting future.”
