Kalamazoo's 1st Judicial Forum

  • Douglas Community Association 1000 West Paterson Street Kalamazoo, MI, 49007 United States (map)

Judicial Forum- The Judicial Forum was born out of the idea that the Campaign for Criminal Justice Transparency (CCJT) wanted to start to get the community engaged in conversations about the ins and outs of the criminal legal system. This Judicial Forum is a 1st of its kind in Kalamazoo County and is only the beginning to what we would like to see be the start to a series of education forums with multiple entities of the system; Judicial, Defenders Office, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors Office and others.

We want the community to be able to learn about the different aspects of the system directly from those who are working in it while being able to hear responses in real-time and in person. With this particular forum, the community will be able to ask questions during registration that they would like to gain insight into. For instance, if someone wanted to know the difference between a secured and unsecured bond, how the bond system actually works, questions surrounding sentencing, and so on.

While we want this event to be led with questions coming directly from those who have been impacted by the system, those who are interested in professions in the system, and those who are working to improve the system we want ALL community members to be able to come listen and participate.

This event will take place at the Douglas Community Association, 1000 W Paterson Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007
