After an extensive search and interviews with many qualified candidates, the OutFront Board of Directors is excited to share with you that Denise Miller has accepted the role of Executive Director of OutFront Kalamazoo!
Denise brings to OutFront twenty years of nonprofit, academic and anti-racism work. She is also a vegan chef who founded, owned, and served as executive chef of her own restaurant! Denise is the co-founder of the Fire Historical and Cultural Arts Collaborative. During her tenure at Fire she served as Public Arts Coordinator and, eventually, Vice-President of the Board of Directors. As a well-regarded anti-racism and intersectionality facilitator and member of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation team through the Kalamazoo Community Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Denise has facilitated trainings with the WMU School of Medicine, the Center for Diversity and Innovation at Kellogg Community College, and the ARCUS Center for Social Justice Leadership, among others.
Denise articulates her experience this way: “In all of these encounters, I apply pedagogy, passion, best practices and presence in Kalamazoo and state-wide in order to consistently co-create, support and cultivate safe, creative and transformative spaces through numerous multi-dimensional campaigns, organizations and projects.”
Denise is a community leader, professor, nonprofit founder, artist, poet, chef, scholar, facilitator, grant writer, manager, community organizer, and so much more! OutFront is proud to have her to lead the organization. I hope you will warmly welcome Denise to OutFront.
