WMU: Connecting on the Continuum: LGBTQ group therapy

For all enrolled WMU LBGTQA+ individuals to come as who they are and gain support on issues of personal relevance. Topics covered can include identity development, coming out, gender expression, relationships, family issues, as well as socio-political concerns like multiple oppressions and discrimination.

Join us as we honor the memory and the courage of those whom we’ve lost to hate.

This event will be hosted at First Baptist Church in downtown Kalamazoo by Transcend, a program of OutFront Kalamazoo. The event runs from 4pm to 6pm. In addition to the memorial event, there will be food available, as well as special guest speakers and a reading of the names.

Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a transgender woman, to memorialize the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts.

Our goal and mission is to establish a safe space for LGBTQ+ and Allies to talk about recovery and find sobriety within the 12 steps. We hope to assist people by finding sponsorship within the community and a supportive healthy group they can always count on to talk openly about gender, sexuality, and substance abuse. Please join us at the OutFront Kalamazoo (formerly the KGLRC) every Sunday at 6pm.

Transcend Monthly Sunday Meeting

OutFront Kalamazoo offers a peer support group for transgender and gender nonconforming adults on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and the 4th Sunday of every month. All meetings are located at OutFront Kalamazoo and are open to anyone 18+ who identifies as transgender, gender-nonconforming or gender queer, or is questioning their gender.
